Jaw-Dropping TV Plot Twists From The Last 10 Years That We’re Still Not Over
With all the streaming services and networks that exist now, we're constantly consuming content and watching new TV shows. Despite that though, there are still some shocking moments from our favorite shows that we can't believe happened, even if we've watched the series multiple times over.
These are moments where you have to pause the show to digest what just happened, or immediately text your best friend to unpack the drama. Those are the moments we're here to talk about that happened in the past decade.
Scandal
A Shonda Rhimes show is never without twists, and there were plenty of them on Scandal. Olivia Pope's parentage alone was enough drama for any show, but the biggest twist by far was when it was revealed that Olivia, Cyrus, Verna, Hollis, and Mellie rigged the presidential election in order for Fitz to win.
Jane The Virgin
Jane and Raf were finally together, Raf was going to propose, all was right for the Villanueva-Solano-De La Vega clan, and then it turns out Michael is alive?! Seriously? You may not have liked it (honestly, did anyone like this twist?) but you can't deny that you had no idea it was coming.
Orange Is The New Black
The murder of fan-favorite Poussey Washington in season four is one that fans of the show grieved for the rest of the season, as did the characters on the show. Whether you believe Poussey deserved better, or you acknowledge that it was a necessary plot device, neither side of the argument saw it coming.
Game Of Thrones
We'll get straight to the point with this one: the Red Wedding. Robb, Talisa, and Catelyn Stark all taken out in the span of one episode. Did you see it coming? Because we sure didn't.
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life
Gilmore Girls viewers all collectively agree that most of the reboot was trash that should've never happened, and though it's not a show that would typically be described as "shocking," the final scene where Rory tells Lorelai she's pregnant definitely was a surprise.
Gossip Girl
You will never convince us that it made sense for Dan Humphrey to be Gossip Girl. Sure, there are a handful of scenes throughout the six seasons that could've been used as proof that he was, but that could be said about literally every character. There are way too many scenarios where it doesn't make sense, and nearly a full decade after the series finale aired, we're still not happy about it.
Westworld
Though there are the fans who claimed they suspected it from the beginning, many fans were shocked to find out during season 1 of Westworld that scientist and programmer Bernard was, in fact, a host. When you rewatch the seasons there are some clues, but they were pretty well hidden for most of the viewers, which is why it was so surprising.
The Good Place
The moment that Eleanor figured out they were in the Bad Place instead of the Good Place, it was something that immediately made sense, but that no one saw coming. Ted Danson's face change made it that much more surprising too.
Grey's Anatomy

George O'Malley's death on Grey's Anatomy is one that happened before viewers knew not to get too attached to characters (considering Shonda Rhimes goes around killing off whoever she wants) and if you're an OG Greys fan, you're probably still not over it.
The Hills
The final moments of The Hills series finale featured a twist that has still never been fully acknowledged or explained, and altered the entire premise of the show. Brody Jenner and Kristin Cavallari said their goodbyes, but it wasn't a fade to black moment. The camera panned out and it was revealed they were standing in front of a fake backdrop! It left everyone wondering just how much of the reality TV show was actually real...
This Is Us
We could write a novel about all the unexpected twists that have happened over the seasons on This Is Us, but any fan of the show will tell you that the first episode time jump reveal is still the most unexpected of all. The moment you realize that Jack and Rebecca are actually the parents of Kate, Kevin, and Randall, your whole perspective of the episode changes.
House Of Cards
If you had watched the original BBC series, you knew what Zoe's fate was going to be, but if you hadn't then Frank Underwood pushing Zoe onto the train tracks on House of Cards is probably a moment that made you gasp out loud.
Breaking Bad
Though you may disagree, arguably the most shocking moment to happen on Breaking Bad was when Walter chose to stand by and watch Jane die. That was the turning point in the show for Walter. He could no longer be regarded as the teacher who was forced into a life of crime. He chose to let her die, and that was a pivotal moment for him as a character.
Riverdale
Before Riverdale turned into the teen magic powers drama it is now, it was just a regular teen murder drama with regular unexpected twists, like when it was revealed that Jason Blossom and Polly Cooper were actually third cousins despite the fact that they were engaged and in love. No one wanted or needed this storyline.
Pretty Little Liars
If you managed to stick with Pretty Little Liars through the endless storylines of Mona as 'A,' Ezra as 'A,' the whole Charles/Charlotte fiasco until the end, you were introduced to the twin twist that actually stemmed from the original novel. That's right, Spencer had a British twin named Alex Drake all this time that she never knew about. Why introduce this in the series finale? No idea.
Downton Abbey
As if Sybil's traumatic death wasn't enough to scar every Downton Abbey fan, they then went off and killed Matthew too, just moments after Mary gave birth to the son they'd be waiting for. Matthew and Mary were finally happy and all was right for the Crawley family until the writers ruined their happiness in one quick car accident.
