These Shots Are In The Movie’s Trailer, But Not The Actual Film
Every so often, a movie's final cut changes between the time the trailer was released and the time the movie was released. That means that some of the footage that filmmakers and editors used in the trailer never makes it into the movie.

Hulk Wasn't In Avengers Infinity War, But He Was in The Trailer
This whole scene isn't in the movie. The big battle takes place in a massive field.
There's a forest area fight, but it's not a warzone type fight like this. There are no nameless fodder people— just the heroes vs. the bad guys. In an interview, the directors said that they intentionally filmed this scene just for the trailer as a misdirect.
From Mechanical To Biological
In the 2002 film Spider-Man, Peter Parker was originally supposed to make his own mechanical web shooters. Later, the filmmakers decided to have the radioactive spider give him biological web spinning powers.
In the original trailer, you can see the mechanical web shooters around Peter's wrists. They were digitally removed in the final cut of the film.
Kylo Ren's Hilted Lightsaber Reveal
This scene from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer never made it into the actual film. It was kind of frustrating being in the theatre waiting for this shot only to realize that it was never going to happen.

Apparently, The Hulk has been involved in a lot of movie trailer misdirection. The actual movie looks a lot darker and more ominous than the trailer.

The Lost Vikings In Atlantis: The Lost Empire
The Teaser Trailer for the Disney film Atlantis: The Lost Empire features many scenes with Vikings that are not in the final film. The scenes were all from a scrapped prologue.
If you really want to watch the prologue, it's available as a bonus feature on the Atlantis DVD.
Another Thor Ragnarok Discrepancy
This one is kind of understandable. The filmmakers probably didn't want to spoil that Thor loses an eye (spoiler alert, by the way).
Although the lost eye effect looks like something out of a poorly made video game. I think they could have done a better job with that— you know, with all the Marvel money they have. Read on to find out why the Spider-Man trailer had to be quickly whisked away.
This Shot Of Jyn Erso In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
This shot from the Rogue One trailer is pretty iconic. Gareth Edwards, the director of the film, explained that this shot was kind of an accident. It was never meant to be in the film, but he loved it so much he used it in the trailer.
In an interview, he said, "We finished a shot and [Felicity Jones] was just walking to the next shot, which was at the end of the tunnel. And as she walked, someone switched the lights on and the way they turned on they went clickclickclick like this. Someone called her, and she just turned around a little bit and I was like, 'Oh my god that looked great.'"
The Original Toy Story Logo
This rather unfortunate looking logo was shown at the end of the original trailer for the 1995 Disney Pixar film, Toy Story.
Thankfully, animators were able to spruce up the design before the actual movie came out. The color scheme in the new logo is much, much nicer.
The World Trade Center In The Spider-Man Trailer
This entire sequence from the original trailer never made it to the film.
Redditor Boo_R4dley said that he worked as the head projectionist at a theater in 2001. After 9/11, he was told to remove the trailer content from all films and take down any posters or banners that featured the World Trade Center. All of that promotional material was eventually destroyed.
The Sky Crack Missing From The Truman Show
In the original trailer for The Truman Show, a light falls from the sky just like in the movie. However, in the trailer there's a crack in the sky that Truman sees when he looks up.

The Joker's Burnt Face In Suicide Squad
In the original cut of the film, The Joker shows up to kidnap Harley Quinn after the helicopter crash. Harley decides to stay with the squad. She leaves The Joker and wins back her independence.
This whole movie was recut and rearranged a bunch of times. I'm sure this burnt face thing made sense at some point, but it never made it into the final film (like so many of Jared Leto's scenes.)
This Surreal Scene From Get Out
This scene was in the trailer for Get Out, but it wasn't in the theatrical cut of the film. Apparently, it did make it into the digital cut and it's included on the BluRay as a deleted scene.
During his commentary on the deleted scenes, Jordan Peele mentioned that he didn't want this scene in the trailer.
Basically The Whole Incredibles Trailer
Disney Pixar films tend to have trailers that feature a stand-alone scene that never appears in the movie. That was definitely the case for The Incredibles. In the trailer, Mr. Incredible struggles to put on his tight-fitting super suit.
I was waiting for this scene to happen in the movie, but, alas, it never did.
This Shot Of Ally Sheedy In The Breakfast Club Trailer
In a recent Criterion Collection edition of The Breakfast Club, Ally Sheedy said that she decided her character wouldn't smoke pot with the others. She sits in a listening booth and sings a Phil Ochs song to herself instead.
This scene was taken out of the movie due to problems with music licensing, but you can still see Sheedy rocking back and forth in the trailer.
The "Oh Yes Yes Yes" Line At The End Of The Inglorious Basterds Trailer
At the end of the Inglorious Basterds trailer, Hitler screams, "nein! nein! nein! nein! nein!" Then we get a cut to Brad Pitt's character saying, "oh, yes, yes, yes, yes."
The lines make a great ending to the trailer, but Pitt's line never made it into the final cut of the film.
The Whole Monsters, Inc. Trailer
Like The Incredibles, Monsters, Inc. is a Disney Pixar film, which means it got the Disney Pixar trailer treatment.
I actually think that Pixar has the right idea. A stand-alone trailer gets across the style and tone of the film without spoiling any of the major plot points. I hate when a trailer gives away the whole movie.
Sandra Bullock's Short Blond Hair In Oceans 8
In the Oceans 8 trailer, Sandra Bullock's character disguises herself by wearing a short, blond wig.
For whatever reason, this scene never made it into the final cut of the movie. Bullock can pull off the blond bob pretty well, but I think she looks better with her natural brown hair color.
Maui's Introduction From The Moana Trailer
In the trailer for Moana, Maui, a character voiced by none other than Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, explains his origin story to Moana and Pau around a campfire.
This scene isn't in the final cut of the movie, but it was a good way to introduce audiences to this now iconic character.
This Frog Sitting Inside A Traffic Light From Magnolia
Magnolia is one of the coolest and most unusual films ever made. The scene with the raining frogs has become one of the most recognizable scenes in movie history.
This shot of a frog sitting in a traffic light was nowhere to be found in the movie scene, though. It only appears in the film's trailer.
The Trailer For Hitch Opens With A Scene That Never Happens In The Movie
The trailer for Hitch opens with a woman throwing a drink in her boyfriend's face. The man then exclaims, "I just asked if it was diet!"
Hitch swoops in to save the day. This interaction never happens in the final cut of the film. The guy and his girlfriend never show up in the film at all.
