Halloween candy might just be the best part of the month of October. The National Retail Federation estimates that people in the U.S. will spend $9 billion on Halloween this year, with an estimated $2.6 billion of that on the candy itself.

Some Halloween candy is clearly better than others. CandyStore.com, a company that delivers bulk candy to retailers and distributors across the country, analyzed 12 years of sales data around the months leading up to Halloween. These are the top favorite candies on America according to their data.

Number five on the list is a surprise with Starburst. Snickers is number four. Another chocolate favorite comes in third with M&Ms. The runner-up is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. According to the data, America's favorite candy is Skittles. The top spot used to be held by Candy Corn, but they now come in at number six.

So if you want to be everyone's favorite house in the trick or treating neighborhood be sure to buy at least a few of the top five favorites.
