Subway once had to settle a lawsuit with angry customers who proved (using a ruler) that their footlong sub was really only 11 inches.
The suit cost Subway over half a million dollars in legal fees. The plaintiffs earned close to $1,000 each. Subway has since changed the way they make sandwiches. Footlongs are now actually a foot long.
