Each year, television networks and streaming services need to make a tough decision about which series need to be cancelled and 2022 will be no different-- lots of shows are already on the chopping block and fans aren't happy. Catch these TV shows before they fall off streaming services.
Animal Kingdom
The crime drama series, Animal Kingdom, premiered on TNT in 2016 and stars Ellen Barkin, Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, and more.
Animal Kingdom will be ending after six seasons in 2022. The critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes says, "Bolstered by Ellen Barkin's acting prowess, Animal Kingdom is a darkly intriguing, although occasionally predictable, twisted family drama."
Motherland: Fort Salem
Motherland: Fort Salem centers on three witches who find themselves in the United States Army. The Freeform series will be ending after its third and final season in 2022.
Critics from Rotten Tomatoes shared, "Despite a fine cast and impressive set up, Motherland: Fort Salem's ambitious ideas are overwhelmed by the sheer too-muchness of it all."
The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead premiered on AMC on Halloween 2010, but the series will officially be ending in 2022. The zombie apocalypse show inspired a huge franchise with several popular spin-offs.
The Walking Dead has earned several awards over the years including People's Choice, Teen Choice, and Saturn. It also has one of the largest ensemble casts on television.
His Dark Materials
Based on the novel series of the same name, His Dark Materials is a fantasy drama show on HBO. It was announced that the series would end after its third season in 2022.
The third season will be based on the events from The Amber Spyglass. Notable cast members include Lin-Manuel Miranda, James McAvoy, and Andrew Scott.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show
In the spring of 2021, Ellen DeGeneres announced that she would be ending her beloved daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, in 2022.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show premiered on September 8, 2003 on NBC and has received 171 Daytime Emmy Award nominations. From celebrity guests, fun games, and lots of dancing, DeGeneres will end the show after 19 seasons.
Manifest
Manifest premiered on NBC in 2018 but was later moved to Netflix. After four seasons, the supernatural drama will end in 2022.
The series centers on the crew and passengers of a commercial airliner who reappear after disappearing for over five years. Manifest is often compared to Lost, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones.
Beat Bobby Flay

Better Things
Better Things focuses on a divorced actress (Pamela Adlon) who must raise her daughters on her own. The series premiered in 2016 and will be ending in 2022 after its fifth season.

The Owl House
While Disney Channel's The Owl House has made television history, it was announced that the animated children's series would be ending in 2022 after its third season.

American Rust
Set in a small Pennsylvania town, American Rust follows a chief of police (Jeff Daniels) who leads an investigation when the son of the woman he loves is accused of a serious crime.
After one season, American Rust was canceled by Showtime. Critics liked the cast, but thought the narrative wasn't clear.
Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol
The Peacock series Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol will not be moving forward with a second season. The plot was a prequel to The Da Vinci Code and followed a young CIA agent solving crime after his mentor went missing.
Rotten Tomatoes gave the show a 57 percent rating and thought the writing and pace made it fall flat.
Small Fortune
Small Fortune was an NBC game show hosted by Lil Rel Howery, but the series was not picked up for a second season.
Contestants would test their skills on miniature playing fields such as a shrunken sushi conveyer belt and mini Ellis Island. Small Fortune averaged a little under 1.5 million viewers per episode.
Pooch Perfect
Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson hosted a dog grooming competition show called Pooch Perfect on ABC. Contestants would try and win a giant cash prize.
The celebrity judges included Lisa Vanderpump, Jorge Bendersky, and Dr. Callie Harris. After being one of the network's lowest-rated shows of 2021, it will not be moving forward with another season.
Bull
After six seasons on CBS, the legal drama Bull will not be returning in 2022. The series followed the employees at a jury consulting firm, which is headed by a psychologist and trial-science expert named Dr. Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly).
Critics were fans of Weatherly's performance, but thought the show relied too heavily on legal show tropes.
Bringing Up Bates
After the success of similar TLC family shows, UPtv decided to make Bringing Up Bates. The series will finally be ending after 10 seasons.
UPtv decided to cancel the show because the network wants to focus more on movies and scripted series for 2022. An eleventh season was filmed, but will not air.
Ellen's Game Of Games
Not only is Ellen DeGeneres ending her hit daytime talk show, but she also decided not to return for a fifth season of Ellen's Game of Games.
The game show featured larger-than-life and colorful versions of games that had previously been featured on her talk show with contestants competing for $100,000.
