People Are Tweeting About Their Biggest Worries In The ’90s, And I Kind Of Want To Go Back In Time
The 1990s was a simpler time. The internet was new, the boy bands were at the top of their game, and nobody was worried about what the president was going to tweet. The things we worried about in the '90s seem so trivial now. Technology has basically solved all of our problems and given us about two hundred more.
A bunch of people on Twitter used the hashtag #MyBiggestWorryInThe90s to comment on how far we've come. Keep reading to take a trip down memory lane.
The FBI Warning Before Every Movie On VHS.
When I was a kid, I wasn't quite sure why the FBI was concerned about my Lion King VHS. All I knew was that I did not want the FBI to have to come to my house.
I had seen a bunch of FBI warnings before, though, and no investigators had ever approached me, so I was pretty confident that they weren't going to show up any time soon.
That My Troll Dolls Were Going To Come Alive...
Why anybody thought these creepy looking creatures would make a good kid's toy is beyond me. They're not even cute. They look weird and naked and I'm not a fan.
Their hair is pretty worrying too. What makes it stick straight up like that?
Remembering To Return Those Blockbuster Movies On Time
Kids have it so easy nowadays. All they have to do is click on a movie on Netflix, watch it, and forget about it. You don't have to rewind it or remember to return it or go outside at all.
I kind of miss Blockbuster, though.
Missing These Cartoons When They Came On
Choosing a station to watch on a Saturday morning was serious business. If you missed your favorite show, there was no way to PVR it or find it online later.
Either you saw it when it was on or you didn't see it at all.
Waiting For My Favorite Song To Come On The Radio So I Could Record It On A Cassette Tape
It's amazing how little we have to worry about finding music nowadays. Back in the '90s, if you wanted to listen to a song, you had to buy a physical album or you had to listen to the radio.
Thank goodness for music streaming services.
Who I Would Marry In MASH
I don't know how this game came to be or how everyone knew about it, but in the '90s, it seemed like serious business.
Nobody wanted to get stuck living in a shack or marrying that boy from math class who everyone thought was a nerd but you secretly had a crush on.
Explaining To My Mom Why This Is Cool
Can you believe that we used to think that clothes like these were fashionable? It seemed so normal back then.
What's going to happen thirty years from now when we look back at the clothes of the 2010s? Are they going to be just as cringey?
When Will My Delia's Catalog Arrive So I Can Get A Super Cute Skirt To Go With My Giant Black Boots
You know what, I kind of like that maxi dress. And the plaid pants aren't too bad either. I guess the fashion of the '90s wasn't all that bad.
I loved a good Delia's catalog. Imagine if Delia's still existed and they had an online catalog? That would be epic.
Wondering Why My Friend Isn't Calling Me Back ASAP When She Clearly Knows It’s An Emergency!
Maybe her pager wasn't getting reception. Remember when we had pagers? The whole concept of pagers just seems so archaic now.
I kind of wish I could go back in time and tell my '90s self about the invention of smartphones. We had no idea what was coming.
Trying Not To Wake Everyone Up While Logging Into AOL In The Middle Of The Night
AOL was a real struggle. My grandfather was absolutely obsessed with it. He thought it was so cool that you could talk to people in real time on the computer.
I guess it was pretty cool. It made a heck of a log in sound, though.
That My CD Player Wouldn't Fit Into My Pocket
I think the pockets in the '90s were so big because we had to fit giant Walkmans in them. There was literally no other way to listen to music on the go.
These pockets started as a necessity, but then they became a fashion statement.
My Sister's Furby Was Going To Murder Me In My Sleep
Furbies were the '90s kid's Hatchimal. They looked like little gremlins and they needed stuff from you all the time. I have no idea why we liked such a needy toy.
They also spoke sometimes and were pretty scary looking. Did you have a Furby when you were growing up?
Eating Candy All The Time
Twitter user @Farahdibaasia tweeted, "In late 90s, my sister and me always bought m&m everyday wthou exception, my dad always afraid of cz we'll getting fat after teen.. ahay... #MyBiggestWorryInThe90s"
I think I'm more worried about her ability to communicate in full sentences.
Hoping That The Teacher Wouldn't Catch Us Passing Notes In Class
Before kids had cell phones, we had to write and pass physical notes if we wanted to talk to each other during class.
Every so often, teachers would catch us goofing off and not paying attention, and sometimes they'd even make us read the note aloud to the whole class. Those were the days.
Waiting 48 Hours To See My Photos
Kids today can't even comprehend this madness. Honestly, I lived through it and I can't wrap my brain around it either. We couldn't see our photos until they were processed and developed.
How did we live? I can't imagine not looking at a photo immediately after I take it.
Would I Get Busted For Using Napster?
Before iTunes, before Spotify, even before Limewire, there was Napster, the music sharing computer application that turned us all into criminals.
File sharing is just a given now, but back in the day, it was serious, illegal business. We were all secretly terrified, but that didn't stop us from getting our music.
Mastering The Carleton
It's nice to see that this '90s trend has come full circle. Kids today actually are worried about mastering the Carleton thanks to the phenomenon known as Fortnite dances.
If you don't know what Fortnite is, maybe you should get your head out of the '90s.
No One Telling Me That Life Was Going To Be This Way
Actually, a lot of people told me life was going to be this way. I just didn't listen. In the '90s all the adults were like, you'll see. When you grow up you're going to miss being this young and carefree.
Turns out they were kind of right.
Everything Spice Girls Related
Twitter user @MsGAnthrope tweeted, "when we were being the Spice Girls at play time and they're trying to make me be Posh spice because my mother insisted on cutting my hair short. Still have this, must be 21yrs old... "
I miss the Spice Girls every day.
First Crush Troubles
Mixtapes were a huge deal in the '90s. There's only so much space on a mixtape, so we had to make some difficult decisions.
@R4ZORCANDY tweeted, "#MyBiggestWorryInThe90s Should I put Backstreet Boys's I'll Never Break Your Heart on the #mixtape for my first crush or GREENDAY's Redundant better?? or maybe Nirvana's Love Buzz?"
