Online Shopping Fails That’ll Make You Think Twice Before Clicking ‘Buy Now’
If you're an online shopper, either the special day has already happened or it will come soon. What are we talking about, you ask? Well, you can't trust everyone online, especially when it comes to overzealous product sellers. Unless you're extremely lucky or savvy, then chances are you're going to get bamboozled at some point. One night you might order a Nike product but receive a shirt that reads "Just Don't Do It" instead. That's just not right, and neither are these upcoming products that unsuspecting shoppers ordered from various websites. Continue reading to see some of the most hysterical online shopping fails ever.
Is This A Joke?
This Reddit user "knew it was a gamble ordering from Wish," but he still went for it. Thankfully, he wasn't upset when his "blanket" arrived, as he thought it was very funny.
The owner of the new giant wad of yarn probably didn't spend too much on it, which is why he was so calm when his order arrived. If he has a cat, this might be the perfect gift to give to the little feline.
Was The Surprise Ruined?
Okay, this one could be the delivery company's fault or the person who ordered it. Sometimes when you make an order, your instructions are printed on the package, and there isn't anything you can do about it (unless there's a checkbox asking to eliminate it).
If that was the case, we're sorry to Nicole Davies from the UK. Still, this is pretty hilarious, we have to admit. We wonder if her mom saw it before she had a chance to hide it away!
He Got A Dress Instead
When summer arrives, a tank top is always beautiful to have in your closet for those warm sunny days. Thankfully, we have Amazon to help us order one in a jiffy (unless your name is Jeremy Russel Priola).
Priola ordered a "tank top," but received this. "I got this tank top on Amazon, and they sent me a dress. On the plus side, it does make my [expletive] look great," Priola wrote on his Facebook.
One Way To Tell If Your Jordans Are Fake...
Michael Jordan made a billion-dollar empire thanks to his prized sneakers, the Air Jordans. When the exclusive ones release, they can be hard to get your hands on, so the resale market for them is one of the toughest out there.
If you finally land a pair of the highly sought-after shoes, you need to make sure they're real. One way to tell is by the Jumpman logo on the shoe. If it looks like he needs to put on a pair of pants, you've been duped.
What A Sweet Book!
"My friend ordered '50 Shades of Grey' on eBay, this is what she received," a Reddit user posted. Well, how's that for false advertising?! Her friend technically got what she asked for, but not exactly.
At least no one got double ripped off because at least there are 50 different hues of the color. The good news is that they spent less than five dollars to get this fascinating piece of paper. Next time, they will know better.
That's Not What She Expected
For many people who have to buy or rent an outfit for an important event, the best bet is to go to the store and pick it out yourself. That way, you can try it on and see how it fits.
The last thing you want is to order something online and when you try it on, it looks nothing like you expected. This poor woman got duped by the internet, but now she knows better.
This Cat Isn't Thrilled
The last thing any cat owner wants to do is to disappoint their precious feline. Well, it's not like they can ask for specific toys, but if they could, the kitty here would be furious.
"Note to self... check the dimensions of EVERYTHING before ordering on Amazon," a Reddit user captioned this picture. The little one looks like he or she doesn't know what to do with that tiny toy. To be fair, we don't know either.
It's Not An XL
This man wanted to be Spider-Man (who doesn't?) but instead, he got Spidey's less capable cousin. The image on the box looks perfect for a guy his size, so it's unfortunate it didn't live up to expectations.
Sure, if he wants to save the day, he can still do that because no one can see under that super-tight mask. We hope he didn't lose many brain cells taking this picture for the world to see.
Now She Can't Clean Her Face
Do babies even use face masks? We ask that because the size of this thing screams "for babies only!" The look on her face screams "you must be kidding me!"
Either way you put it, this is an absolute fail. Typically, beauty products won't set you back too much when purchasing online, but they got this young lady. Now, she'll probably only buy masks from the store unless she feels like her chances are good.
It's A Chainsaw...
Wow, what a great chainsaw! We bet it can cut through the toughest of woods and won't need resharpening until after its 100th use. Wait a minute, this one looks suspicious!
"Tip of the day - don't buy your chainsaw from eBay," this Twitter user wrote. Well, now that we know this, we'll stick to buying our hardware from Home Depot or Lowe's. That thing could be of use in another way, just not with cutting.
Prom Fail
Prom is a teenager's biggest night. It's when they get to step into the world on their own and dance the night away with no worries. Making sure you have the right outfit is everything.
This poor girl didn't get what she ordered, and it shows. The resulting dress is terrible. It looks like she has some type of pasta detailing around the top of the dress. We know she's not happy because she didn't even show her face for the comparison picture.
No Yeezy For You
Early in 2020, Kanye West called his Adidas Yeezy 350 Boost the "Most Iconic Shoe Of The Past 15 Years." Perhaps that's why this poor customer got ripped off so badly for such an expensive shoe.
If you're going to pay that much on sneakers, you'd better hope you get the real thing. It's kind of sad that someone did this to the guy when all he wanted was a pair of Adidas. Better luck next time, Max!
Wrong Size Chairs!
It doesn't happen often, but the person in charge makes mistakes too. Moving into a new office requires plenty of decision making from someone. Deciding to order your chairs online is something to pay close attention to -- or else.
"My boss ordered chairs for the break room last year. He, too, did not get what he expected," a Reddit user wrote. At least he has a slight grin on his face that indicates he knows he messed up.
"Picture To Scale"
What good are scales? They only make you feel bad about yourself, and on the off-chance you catch a number you actually want to see, it doesn't stay that way for long.
Maybe this person receiving a tiny version was a blessing in disguise. This way, they won't get their feelings hurt after two weeks at the gym but still eating like a first-year student in college. We do hope they got a refund.
What's Going On Here?
What in tarnation is this? Ordering a giant bear is already expensive, the last thing you want is to receive some creepy slender man version of a stuffed animal. This is downright terrifying, but it's hilarious at the same time.
"Legs are awful." "Hideous!" Those remarks pretty much sum up the devastation one would feel after getting this in the mail. It looks like there could be a human inside it! This is one ultimate bear fail.
That's Not What She Asked For, Is It?
We have another dress buying travesty, but this time it's with flamingos. At very first glance, you see the glaring differences, and it's a shame they sold it to anyone like this.
The real dress might work for a little kid, but not a grown woman. If she wanted to show off her tattoos, then she can wear shorts she already owns. The piece of clothing they delivered to this lady doesn't even have all the flowers as advertised.
A Chair For Dolls
Getting furniture is almost like making an investment. You're going to sit on that couch or chair for many years to come, so why would you leave it all to chance?
Take the time and go scout it out for yourself! Don't rely on the websites unless you know for sure it's going to work. This lady learned her lesson the hard way, and it's pretty funny. If she has dolls, that tiny chair would fit them perfectly.
That's Not A Punching Bag!
A Reddit user posted this picture with the caption, "This is what happens when you buy a $20 punching bag from China." What a waste of money!
We wonder how many punches this person got in before the whole thing exploded. Did it not feel weird after the first few strikes, or was this person so angry at the world that they punched it to smithereens and didn't think twice about it?
One Giant Fail
Someone's friend used Amazon to purchase a simple dustpan. The person didn't want anything fancy, just something to keep with their broom and take out when crumbs attacked the floor.
Little did she know that she would receive a dustpan this large. She wanted to "figure out" where to find a broom to match, but we don't think she would find one that easy. At least now, she can sweep up as much as she wants.
Not So Cool
Another Jordan shoe strikes here, but this time the Jordans weren't fake. This man ordered the shoes off of eBay and figured he got an excellent deal, but he didn't expect the extras to come with his sneakers.
The seller ran out of material to wrap the shoes with and went with the next best thing, tighty-whitey underwear. Many questions come with this situation. Were they clean, or were they used? Did the seller buy a fresh pair just for the occasion or not?
Not Quite Big Enough...
They say size doesn't matter, but in this case, it might. eBay continues to amaze us with how deceptive they can get with their products. Either the buyers aren't reading the details correctly, or the sellers don't care.
We'll go with a little bit with both in this scenario. This kid, Kai, wanted a Pillow Husky the size of him but got one as small as a puppy. They're both cute, but Kai didn't get his money's worth.
Well, They Didn't Lie
This customer assumed he ordered a mug that changed depending on the temperature of the drinking device. Well, that's where he made a fool of himself -- thinking the seller was a person of dignity.
When you think about it, the buyer received exactly what they saw advertised. The description says "Funny Magic Color Changing Mug," so the funny part is the fact that it doesn't transform. Whoever bought it could've laughed about it and continued about their day.
Nice "Knitted" Pillows
"When you think that you are buying knitted cushions from Amazon, but you have bought cushions with pictures of knitted cushions on them," an Instagram user captioned this photo of their purchase.
The question now is if this customer decided to keep them, or get back on the website and look for real knitted pillows. If it's the latter, then hopefully they didn't run into any more problems or else that would be some of the worst pillow luck.
This One Isn't Close At All
How can an online purchase look so different than what was advertised? This one is so sad, it isn't even funny. Well, it is hysterical when you make an in-depth comparison.
Our first guess was that the real thing has plastic as its primary material. Our second guess is that this dress was probably selling for really cheap. If this young lady paid anything over $30, then she should've immediately sought a refund. What a lovely way to scam!
Watch Out For Electronics!
Electronics have a way of deceiving many online shoppers. Unless it's from the brand's site, purchasing something like an iPhone can get tricky. If you don't believe us, take one look at this photo.
This person thought they successfully purchased an Apple iPad for $5 off of eBay. It shipped from Hong Kong, and when it arrived, this is what was in the box. While the packaging was real, the product was nothing more than a children's gadget.
Nightgown Or Huge Dress?
We can understand the feeling of wanting to wear your label on your clothing. Things like "Her Hubby" or "Number One Wife" are two examples of that, so "#Wifey" is pretty popular too.
When this woman thought she purchased a $30 #Wifey nightgown, she didn't expect to get a dress in return. Both are comfortable, but one doesn't offer the same intimate look that she probably hoped for. Still, we're willing to bet that she kept it!
An Extreme Downgrade
Buying items for your room is an experience. You want something that fits the vibe, but at the correct price. Sure, you might find something great, but will your bank account appreciate it?
"These chest of drawers will forever haunt me," this Instagram user wrote. "When you order a chest of drawers and don't have any concept on size or cost of items and end up with these." Ouch, tough luck with this one, pal!
Break Out The Magnifying Glass
When you want to play with a deck of cards, chances are you want them at regular size. Unless you've figured out that it's better to use a smaller size, then go for it!
This customer more than likely hasn't figured out how to play in that style. If they wanted to have friends over for a game of poker, then they would need some magnifying glasses for cards this small. Why didn't he just go to his local Target?
"Adult Shoes"
According to this Twitter user, their father bought a pair of adult-sized shoes. This is what they got. Apparently, when this seller said "adult-sized," they meant that it would fit an adult doll.
These make a stylish pair of baby shoes, but they don't work for a grown man. Rule 101 of running an online business: be honest about your product. And write down the measurements of what you're selling so that you don't end up on Twitter!
What An Unusual Mermaid
Mermaid blankets have risen in popularity throughout the past couple of years. People love feeling like a mythical creature while they relax and watch Netflix. And when people buy a mermaid blanket, they expect a fish tail.
What did this Imgur user get? Well...not a fish tail. It looks like an awkward onesie with two misshapen socks. At least the blanket has some scale designs on it; that's the closest it'll get to looking like a mermaid.
A Rug For A Marshmallow
Rugs can get expensive. It's no wonder why people would buy inexpensive, fancy-looking rugs on Amazon. Unfortunately, this Twitter user bought a rug online only to realize "the importance of specifying the size of the product."
When people buy rugs, most want to know the dimensions. They want rugs that fit in their room, not ones that aren't even big enough to be a mouse pad. Add this post to the collection of online products for a dollhouse.
A Couch, Or Two Pillows?
What do you see in this photo? A brown couch, or two pillows stacked on top of each other? When people order couches, they expect actual cushions that you can lounge on. This looks like something a poor college student would through together.
This reddit user did not receive what they were expecting when they ordered a brown couch online. At least this have two pillows and a frame. We hope this "couch" didn't cost too much!
Not Exactly As Advertised
Smartwatches have a reputation for looking sleek, modern, and technologically advanced. On the package, this watch ticks off those boxes. But the reality is a pixelated, digital photo of a clock with Roman numerals.
What's the point of wearing a smartwatch that shows an image of another watch? You might as well buy a high-quality watch instead. If you're in the market for a new watch, beware of buying knock-offs on the internet. It might end up like this.
A Very Different Message
This reddit user bought an "I want to believe" iron-on patch from Amazon. With its image of a UFO, it's meant to be a fun conversation starter. Instead, the badge that arrive says "I want to leave." That's...not exactly the same message.
Although the new message is hilarious, it's not what the user paid for. On top of that, the badge hardly looks similar to the one advertised. Perhaps the seller is pranking their customers.
It Wasn't Meant For A Cat, But The Cat Got It
Like many parents, a Twitter user's mom bought her son a Converse rucksack for the new school year. Well, it didn't exactly come as advertised. Instead of the son wearing it for school, the cat ended up wearing it.
If we've learned anything from this list, it's to always read the size dimensions before buying something online. Several social media posts prove that some sellers ship products that are smaller than expected. If you have a cat, however, you can put these products to use.
The Teddy Bear Deflated
How can someone screw up a teddy bear? By not stuffing it, apparently. This person bought a large, fluffy teddy bear online, and they received a deflated teddy skin in return. That's more than a little disappointing.
The (potential) good news is that you could re-stuff this bear. But that doesn't make this sale anything less than a rip-off. How hard is it to sell a complete teddy bear? If we wanted an empty stuffed animal, we'd visit Build-a-Bear.
Now That's Just Rude
Buying laptops is an investment, even if you get them online. They cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. But to buy a laptop and receive a printed photo of the computer in return--that's just cruel.
Unfortunately, this man bought a laptop on eBay only to receive a photo of the product. That eBay seller won't receive good reviews, and they'll likely get their account suspended. Let's hope that this man got a refund and bought a nice computer.
Not Quite The Wig They Expected
To be fair, the actual colour of the wig isn't too bad. It's actually somewhat accurate.
However, the actual thickness of the wig leaves something left to be desired. It might be a "you get what you pay for" situation.
I Literally Don't Know Why They Bought This
I can't for the life of me imagine why someone would voluntarily buy something like this, but here it is in broad daylight.
This just feels wrong to look at.
