Fails That Make Halloween Seem A Lot Less Scary
Halloween is easily one of the most chaotic and complicated holidays of the year. You have to decorate, put a costume together, go to or throw a party... the list goes on and on. With all these moving parts, it's incredibly easy for something to go terribly wrong. Whether your Pinterest cookies come out looking terrible, your costume looks like a joke, or your decorations don't even make sense, it's all just part of Halloween. Now, take a look to see some of the worst Halloween fails out there. Hopefully, they'll give you some confidence for this year's festivities.
Not Many Customers Today
We're not sure if a worker made this mistake unknowingly, or if they did it on purpose so that they didn't have to deal with any customers. We're going to assume the latter and if that's the case, that is a genius idea on their part.
People don't follow the speed limit, they talking on their phone while driving, and do a manner of other things they aren't supposed to, but for some reason they usually listen to caution tape. There's no doubt that numerous customers went to this McDonald's, saw the tape, and turned right back around. The manager is probably wondering why sales are down.
What A Creery Pair Of Socks!
There are so many things wrong with this pair of socks that they are scarier than Halloween. Aside from clearly spelling "creepy" wrong, what is that thing supposed to be below the word tricky? Are people supposed to know what that is?
Hopefully, nobody bought these socks because they would be getting ripped off big-time. We're sure that the reason they're displayed next to the cookies is that someone noticed everything that was wrong with them and just put them on the nearest shelf instead of wasting their money.
Some Things Are Better Left Alone
When it comes to decorating for a holiday, some areas of the house are better left alone -- like the toilet. You don't see people wrapping their toilets with Christmas lights, or painting them red, white, and blue for the Fourth of July, so why would you think it's okay to decorate it for Halloween?
This decoration in particular is especially weird since it can be interpreted in so many many different ways. All we know is that it makes us uncomfortable and a little skeeved out.
So Close, Yet So Far
When you're trying to draw a pentagram, it's usually important that you make sure that you aren't accidentally making a Star of David instead. Mixing the two up could offend two parties, both Satanist and Jewish, at the same time.
All we hope is that people noticed that something was wrong before buying and wearing these out for Halloween. You would definitely get some weird looks walking down the street while wearing something like that.
OK, Nice Try
In my opinion, they could have figured out a way to fit all of the words on the board without having the sign look like it says "Let's Get Spoy, oK." We're not sure what that means, but it sure is confusing.
It's probably safe to assume that the person whose job it is to test the quality of the product was fired, all because of one word. We would be very surprised if anyone bought this to hang up in their home.
Wrong Holiday
We thought that Halloween was about ghosts, ghouls, and goblins, not about love! It looks like this shirt is meant for a little kid, but still. It's Halloween... maybe you can give all of that love stuff a rest for a month.
We can think of a million other appropriate things that the shirt could say while still being Halloween-themed. Also, the message could be interpreted to say "
Learn Your Biology
While these Halloween decorations are horrifying in their own right, once you realize what's wrong, they become a lot less terrifying. These decorations are the skeletons of a spider and a scorpion, however, if you knew your biology you'd be aware that both of these insects both have exoskeletons.
Looks like the company that produces these decorations didn't think these ones through before mass-producing them before Halloween. The sad thing is, most people probably won't even notice.
Fonts Are Important
We hope that this is supposed to be some kind of code, because if it isn't, whoever made this flyer might want to get their eyes checked. A Halloween-themed thought doesn't mean that people aren't supposed to be able to read it. What's so scary about that?
We bet very few people went to the event because nobody even knew what or where it was. Our suggestion? Choose a better font next time if you're trying to set up an occasion.
Spooky Dinosaur
If you don't dress up your dinosaur for Halloween, are you even celebrating the holiday? While this may be funny to look at, there are far better and simpler things you could to do to dress up this stegosaurus. Put a pair of sunglasses on it or even a hat, you don't have to waste a sheet so it looks like it dressed up as a ghost.
It just appears to be under construction rather than dressed as a ghost. They didn't even give it eyes!
The Scariest Halloween
First off, who gives someone a card of Halloween? We’ve never even heard of that before. That aside, we thought the point of Halloween was to dress up and give someone a fright, not play a horrible April Fools' joke on someone and give them a heart attack.
Many people would rather fight off Michael Myers and Dracula at the same time than get news like this. We just hope whoever got his card is alright.
Defeating The Purpose
We wonder which poor child eagerly went up to a house to tick or treat, only to find out that they were handing out "Halloween Pretzels." These little goodies defeat the purpose of the holiday, because every kid already has a big tub of pretzels at home that they haven't touched in years, and for a good reason.
It looks like whoever got these instead of candy wanted to make a point and discarded them onto the ground.
Why Didn't They Call It Hot Potato?
Anybody brave enough to wear this costume would be the winner of just about any costume contest. Nothing screams Halloween more than turning a vegetable into something sexy! Just when we thought out of options for scandalous costumes, somebody came up with the genius idea of turning a potato into a "racy" outfit.
Our only real concern is where the arms go. That could be a bit of an issue if you need to do just about anything that requires hands.
Regular Pumpkins Were So Last Year
We're going to assume that this person was trying to recreate something they saw on Pinterest. As we all know, attempting to copy something from Pinterest usually turns into a disaster, just like this pumpkin did.
We're not sure what the original pumpkin looked like, but we're pretty sure that it wasn't anything like this. We hope that they bought extra pumpkins, because they're going to need a few more tries to get it right.
Starbucks' Number One Fan
We get what this person is going for, but this is downright horrifying. Imagine sleeping in your room and waking up to see this person standing in your doorway. We're surprised M. NightShyamalan hasn't tried to make a horror flick using this character. We wonder what the twist would be?
This person must drink a lot of Starbucks to decide on this as a costume. We're just pretty sure that their mascot is a mermaid, not whatever this thing is.
Starting Them Young
We guess this dad decided that if he was going to have to dress up with his son for Halloween, he was going to do it his way. Luckily, the kid is young enough to have no idea what's going on even though the dad knows exactly what he's dressed up as.
Other dads dressed up as princes, with their daughters as princesses , better watch out for these two walking down the street. The woman in the picture even looks like she's running away!
Just Throw Everything In There
Sometimes, when you're low on candy, your best bet is to just start grabbing random things around your house and putting them in a bowl. Better to give little kids dog food rather than admit you are empty-handed. Or else the next thing you know your house might be toilet papered.
Also, we're sure someone's dad would be more than thankful to take that beer off of your hands. After all, who knows how many more houses he has to go to.
That's Cold
Who would do this to a child? What kind of sick person gets a giant bag of Laffy Taffys and only leaves out the worst flavors. We take back what we said about being empty-handed, this is far worse. They know that the good flavors are inside, and who knows the lengths they are willing to go in order to get them.
However, this is going to make the kid who likes the bad flavors night. It's like a dream come true for them.
Nightmare On Sesame Street
Bert and Ernie are two classic characters on the children's televised puppet show Sesame Street. The show is popular among young children and is nostalgic for adults, so both parties tend to dress up as the characters each year.
Looks like these two were going for the Bert and Ernie look but completely missed their mark. If their goal was to be the scariest Sesame Street characters possible, in that case, they take the case.
Classic Case Of Miscommunication
Apparently, this couple agreed that they would be Cleopatra and Caesar for a couples costume at a Halloween party. While the girl followed through with her part of the deal, they boy...not so much.
We're not sure if he did this on purpose or if he really thought they were going as a salad. Either way, it's hilarious but we can tell that he's about to get an earful after their finished taking pictures. This may have been their final date.
If You Squint You Can See It
When it comes to candy in the shape of anything, people don't actually expect it to look identical to what it claims to be. After all, it's a manufactured piece of candy. However, this is just ridiculous.
If someone's life depending on it, there's no way that they would know that's supposed to be a bat. Luckily, on Halloween, not many people actually look at their candy, they just eat it in the dark on the way to the next house.
We're Sure It Is
Well, there's a few things that are wrong with this picture. First off, when people decorate for Halloween, it's usually frowned upon to decorate public areas like the sidewalk. usually, it's common courtesy to stick to your own property.
Second, using spray paint is probably not a good idea considering it will be there for years to come. And three, they didn't even spell "haunted" right. Now, everyone that passes by this has to see this. Hopefully, there aren't any grammar fanatics in the neighborhood.
The Scariest Ghost Around
When it comes to dressing up your pet for Halloween, the simpler tends to be the better. The main reason being that they will probably end up hating it when you put it on them, and the other is that they're unnecessarily expensive.
Are you really going to spend all that money just so you can take a few pictures? Whoever came up with this costume for their dog had the right idea. Adorable, simple, cheap, and overall effective.
Please, Stop It
There's no arguing that dolls are weird in general, especially if they're overly realistic, and they look hungry for human flesh. These people took it all a step too far when they decided to put the head on top of their own dogs!
Poor pup is sitting in darkness with no idea how horrifying it looks on the outside. We hope that all they did was snap a picture of it and called it quits.
You're A Wizard, Baby
You know, we understand that it might be a pain to dress up a baby in a Halloween costume. So, if that's the case, maybe it's better to just not make them wear one at all.
It looks like someone figured that it was a good idea to just draw glasses and a scar on this baby to make him look like Harry Potter. We have to say, it's not very convincing, but who are we to judge.
Way To Own It
Because of his red hair and the age that he's at, we're sure that this kid has been teased for being a "ginger" for the majority of his academic career.
However, on this Halloween, he was going to take a stand and let everyone know that he's proud of who he is. Yet, he made sure to do it in a clever enough way that people could only laugh. he's the true winner here and his costume probably didn't cost anything.
Tearing Down Gender Norms
This guy decided to think inside of the box, literally, for his Halloween costume. It's a hilarious costume idea. We're just not sure how many people want to see a full-grown man in a bikini walking around inside a Barbie box.
If we were the judges of a costume competition, this man would win in terms of both creativity and boldness. Few men have the guts to walk around in a bikini, especially dressed like a Barbie doll.
Costume On A Budget
While some people might go all out on Halloween, spending every last penny in their bank account in order to achieve the perfect costume, not everyone has that luxury. Some people have to work with what they have, even if it isn't all that much.
This person wanted to dress up as Iron Man but definitely couldn't afford the full suit. So, they used some tape and colored paper to get the job done. On the upside, everyone know's he's supposed to be Iron Man.
Anybody Call A Taxi?
So, we’re not entirely sure what the message here is supposed to be but we can imagine it’s not to get in the taxi with the ghost. One, ghosts can’t touch things so his hands are going straight through that steering wheel. Two, even if he could hold on to the wheel he has things in both hands (wings?). Three, he looks beyond not spooky that it’s hard not to giggle.
Now, if one of the guys in the back with the menacing smile was driving we might have run in the other direction instead of taking a picture of the cab driver.
The Parade Is Off!
What is it with people and thinking that waving skeletons are scary? They look more like the Queen of England riding in a parade rather than the undead. Throw in the tricycle and we have a huge party of non-scary Halloween decor.
Also, can someone tell our skele-friend in the back that there are a total of seven wheels in play? There is zero reason for him to be pushing the wagon.
Them Bones
If someone can tell us what they think is going on here, we’d be most obliged. Our best guess is that someone thought it would be scary to make a pseudo skeleton. Only, you know, without bones and just making it the legs.
The thing is, if you’re good at DIY projects, this could make for a really fun kids project. They’ll also be all for it because they get to drink a large amount of soda! Just be sure to get paint or something to cover up the labels. It’s Halloween, people, it should be a little scary!
Chestnuts Roasting...Wrong Holiday
These skeletons look less scary and more along the lines of our friends when they’re sitting around a campfire hoping someone knows how to put it out correctly. Regardless, we have to admit that the front lawn decor is family friendly, if not even a bit cute.
If you’re going for the spooky factor, though, try removing the bug-eyes, floppy hats, and fashionable bandanas. They’re skeletons, they’re not on their way to a square-dancing competition.
Someone Was Hungry
This little girl is doing something right with her life. Why wouldn’t you want to dress up as a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs? Only, plot twist, you’re the actual meal and not the plate. It’s genius and she looks adorable.
Can we also say that it is a brilliant DIY costume idea? Just get a boatload of off-white yarn, some brown pom-poms, and one huge pom-pom that you can stick to a headband. Easy, comfortable, and inventive enough that you’ll win any costume contest that you enter.
At Least They'll Stay Warm!
The only scary thing about this baby’s Subway costume is that their parents thought it was a good idea to get the actual packaging to wrap their child in. Although a cute idea for a costume, maybe think about getting something a bit more sanitary to wrap your practically-newborn child in, say a subway blanket that you can most definitely find on Amazon.
If that child didn’t scream five seconds after the picture was taken it’s either a doll or the parents thought ahead and gave it a bottle directly after. It’s creative though, so we’ll give them props for the cute hat.
That's A Good Pup!
We get it, it’s a “seal pup.” Very clever. Although, we do with the dog looks a bit more excited about its fate as a seal. Alas, those puppy eyes don’t lie — he’s absolutely miserable and 100 percent going to tear something up later in the night.
That is definitely the face of betrayal that might be rectified only by large amounts a treats, pets, and free range of their human’s bed for at least one week. Otherwise, this dog might not be speaking to their person for a long, long time.
Hope She Doesn't "Roll" Away!
We know what you’re thinking, who dresses their little girl up as a piece of sushi for Halloween? The parents are most likely looking for blackmail later down the line if she refuses to come home for the holidays, but that’s no reason to make her dress up as a fish roll.
Honestly, she does not look overly happy about the fact that she is unable to sit down on that curb. How does one sit down in that costume? Do you kind of just float on top of it? We’d probably just except our fate for the next few hours. Good luck little one.
Whale-O-Lantern
As far as jack-o-lanterns go, this one is pretty awesome. It’s not scary in the least, but it definitely is enough to put a smile on your face. Even the steam is shaped to look like water coming out of the whale’s blowhole.
We are kind of curious as to how they were able to get the tail to stick up from the platter in such a way. Glue? Well, whatever it is, we’re just hoping that someone said they liked their pumpkin and the carver said thank you the guy came back with a marvelous, “you’re whalecome.”
Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle
First question, how much milk does this family drink on a regular basis to accumulate this many gallons!? At least their kids are growing up with strong bones? Regardless, this DIY project is great for families with little kids.
All you have to do is clean out the million gallon milk jugs you have lying around the house, have the kids stencil on some creepy, cute, and sad faces, and then cut off the bottom so you can put the jugs over some tea lights. Just make sure they’re the electric light. There’s no need to melt your child's art project.
