What Everyone Wore To The 2019 Vanity Fair Oscar After Party
They came, they saw, they conquered, and then they went to the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party to celebrate and blow off some steam. A lot of celebs changed into a different outfit. You can't go to a party in the same thing you wore on the red carpet. The fashion police will arrest you. Unless you're Spike Lee. Then you're safe.
Keep reading to see all the second looks at the second biggest event of the night. I can promise dark colors and lots of sparkles.
Regina King In Coral
Regina King won an Oscar at this year's Academy Award ceremony. When she accepted her award, she was wearing a long white gown with a high slit. She was the picture of elegance.
Regina decided to switch things up for the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party. This coral chiffon dress is very on trend. So many celebs chose to wear this fabric and a similar color on the red carpet.
Newlyweds Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth
Look at these adorable newlyweds. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have had a long, rocky relationship, but look at them now. They're married and they're looking better than ever. Liam is wearing a very classic black and white tuxedo, and it looks like Miley is rocking a plunging neckline like she has been at every event for the past few months.
But hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? I think the plunging neckline looks great on her.
Emily Ratajkowski Went For Fitted
Emily Ratajkowski is also a newlywed, although she isn't as newly-wed as Miley and Liam. Emily showed up to the after party without her beau, but I'm sure he's patiently waiting for her at home.
I love the lace details on this cream-colored dress. The fitted bodice show's off Emily's stellar figure, and the layered peplums add a ton of visual interest. This dress walks the line between simple and intricate.
Caitlyn Jenner And Sophia Hutchins
Caitlyn Jenner and her friend Sophia Hutchins showed up to the Vanity Fair After Party in dresses that couldn't be more opposite. Sophia's is long, black, matte, and sheer, while Caitlyn's is short, white, and shiny. I think both of these ladies look great.
Their outfits balance each other out nicely. Caitlyn knows that when you go to a party with a friend, you either have to be all matchy-matchy, or you have to look completely different.
A Thigh-Revealing Red For Brie Larson
Brie Larson wore a sleek, silvery dress to the actual Oscars, but she opted for something a little brighter and a little more fun for the Vanity Fair After Party. This one-shoulder red sheath dress looks amazing with Brie's new ice blonde hair.
That black belt is a little too early 2000s for my liking, but I think it's literally impossible for Brie Larson to look bad. I can forgive the belt faux pas.
Ooh La La, Camila Cabello
Camila Cabello wasn't at the actual Oscars, so she brought her red carpet gown to the Vanity Fair After Party. Don't you think this gown belongs on a red carpet? It's just so big and so elegant. Camila Cabello almost looks like she stepped right out of The Favourite.
This dress may not be everybody's cup of tea, but we've seen Camila in so many short, form-fitting dresses, it's nice to see her in something more floofy.
Kerry Washington's Flouncy Gown
Now that Scandal has come to an end, Kerry Washington is free to change up her hairstyle. Goodbye Olivia Pope, hello short haired queen. Kerry Washington always dresses well, but I think this tiered champagne dress is the best thing I've ever seen her wear.
I love how it's tight at the top and loose at the bottom. Olivia Pope wouldn't be caught dead in a dress like this. It's much too flouncy.
Chrissy Teigen Never Fails To Impress
Chrissy Teigen is taking some fashion risks in this feathered gown. I love all the colors and textures going on here. Chrissy Teigen would look good wearing a paper bag, but I appreciate that she took the extra effort and wore something truly original.
The coral tones go perfectly with her hair color, and I love the barely-there shoes. Chrissy looks like she's ready to dance the flamenco.
Emma Roberts Rocked A Red Lip
I think it's pretty much impossible for Emma Roberts to look bad, but this dress might be the sexiest thing I've ever seen. It looks like she's wearing nothing, and at the same time, she's wearing so much. This is a dress that just wants you to touch it. I just want to know what all those little beads feel like.
The red lip is everything. Emma looks stunning. This is too much.
Tina Fey Should Have Hosted
Hands up if you think Tina Fey should have hosted the Oscars. Everyone's hands are up? Good. The only thing wrong with this year's Oscars is that there wasn't enough Tina Fey. Ok, there were some other things wrong with this year's Oscars (including the movie that won Best Picture, but that's just my humble opinion).
Tina looks gorgeous in this aubergine dress. Does this woman ever age? Seriously, lady, save some youth for the rest of us.
As Usual, Serena Williams Wowed Us
It was nice to see Serena Williams present at the Oscars. You don't often get to see sports stars at events like this. Then again, Serena is so much more than a sports star. This woman is a boss lady, a business mogul, an influencer, and a legend.
Serena looks like the queen that she is in this dramatic black and royal blue ensemble. There are so many sparkles I don't even know where to look.
Tessa Thompson Wore Sheer Black
Tess Thompson has had a big year. From Westworld to Black Panther to all of Janelle Monae's music videos, this lady had a fantastic 2018. Let's hope that 2019 is an even better year for her. Let's also hope that the next season of Westworld comes out in 2019, although I don't think that's very likely.
Tessa looks fantastic in this sheer black and sliver dress. But then again, Tessa Thompson always looks fantastic.
Spaghetti Straps For Chloe Grace Moretz
Is it just me, or does Chloe Grace Moretz keep getting prettier and prettier? This sparkly black dress with spaghetti straps looks like something you could get off the rack, but at the same time, those crystals and jewels look pretty intricate.
i don't think this dress looks particularly haute couture, but it doesn't look bad either. You keep doing you, Chloe Grace Moretz. Her hair looks amazing in this photo.
Vanessa Hudgens Looked Like An Oscar Trophy
Vanessa Hudgens looks like a sexy snake in this slinky metallic dress. The bow at the neck makes her look like she's wrapped up like a present— which is fitting because Vanessa Hudgens is a gift to us all.
Vanessa Hudgens was in a televised live production of Rent this year, and she totally smashed the role of Maureen. I can't wait to see what she's going to accomplish in 2019.
Aubrey Plaza Looked Super Chic
Aubrey Plaza, or deadpan princess, looks amazing in this short sparkly dress. I think she looks like a human disco ball. Also, check out those shoes. I love the little bow ties on them. The bows and the blazer are definitely a nod to the "black tie" portion of this black-tie event.
I like that Aubrey has gone for a bold lip. It's the Oscars— if you can't wear a red lip to an Oscars after party, when can you wear a red lip?
Glenn Close's Ensemble Won Our Hearts
Glenn Close may not have won an Oscar (yet), but she definitely won our hearts in this pantsuit covered with a sheer sparkly shawl. A lot of actresses seem to have opted for some kind of black sheer sparkly outfit at this year's Vanity Fair After Party.
Glenn close has proven that she's just always going to be fashionable. I've never seen her wearing anything that wasn't gorgeous.
Madelaine Petsch's Textured Look
Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch fore this beautifully textured ballgown with a fitted bodice. The color of this dress really highlights Madelaine's porcelain skin. I'm loving the red lip and the slicked back red hair.
It's nice to see Madelaine in something softer because her Riverdale character, Cheryl Blossom, is always wearing harsh, structured outfits. I love this look on her. This dress could double as an amazing wedding dress.
No One Showed Up In The Same Outfit As Hailee Steinfeld
Some people are good at making music, some people are good at acting, but Hailee Steinfeld is goo— nay, excellent, at both. A few years ago she became one of the youngest actors ever to be nominated for an Academy Award. Now she's back to celebrate her famous friends, but this time, she's back in style.
This dress is totally unique. It's unlike anything we've seen on the Vanity Fair carpet thus far, and it's unlike anything Hailee Steinfeld has ever worn.
So Subtle And Lovely, Laura Dern
Laura Dern has a kind of natural beauty that makes me way too jealous. She always looks like she just rolled out of bed looking absolutely perfect. I love this black dress on her, and I like it better than the not so great purple dress that she wore on the Oscars red carpet.
This is just more elegant, more unique, and more Laura. It has such great detailing and I love the silhouette.
Billy Porter Wore A Suit-Dress Hybrid
Billy Porter wore a suit-dress hybrid on the red carpet, and he pulled the same stunt at the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. If you're going to wear a dress, you may as well wear a huge dress. And if you're going to wear a dress on one carpet, you may as well wear a dress on all the carpets.
Billy Porter is the MVP of Oscars fashion this year.
Lady Gaga Went For Demure
Well well well, it kind of looks like Lady Gaga is stealing Billy Porter's look. If you stand far enough away and you squint your eyes you would barely be able to tell those two apart.
Usually, Lady Gaga is the queen of outrageous fashion, but she chose to wear a classic black ballgown during her performance of "Shallow," and she didn't even change outfits for the Vanity Fair After Party.
Kendall Jenner Bared A Lot
What's the point of wearing clothes at all if the clothes are just bits of fabric you drape over your private bits? Alright, fine, I actually kind of like this look. There's no denying that Kendall looks great in it. It's just a little bit unsettling that I can see so much of her hip bones.
What kind of undergarments do you even wear with a dress like this? Probably none.
Selma Blair Looked Elegant
Selma Blair's appearance at the Vanity Fair After Party was her first public appearance since she announced that she has multiple sclerosis. She showed up to the events with a cane and tearfully answered questions about how difficult her diagnosis has been.
But Selma's not going to let MS hold her back. She walked the Vanity Fair carpet in style. Look at those gorgeous colors— and I love her slicked back hair.
It Was Red, Red, Red For Emilia Clarke
Emilia Clarke looked stunning on the red carpet, and I think she looked even better at the Vanity Fair After Party. I know those '80s style sleeves may not be everybody's cup of tea, but I think Emilia is wearing them well.
Also, this shade of red is absolutely perfect on her. This dress is the perfect length for her frame, and I'm loving the pointy black shoes.
Winnie Harlow Went For Layers
Model (and Drake's friend) Winnie Harlow took a note from Kacey Musgraves and wore a layered tulle pink dress to the Oscars After Party. Kacey wore a similar dress on the red carpet, and people weren't sure if they loved it or hated it.
Winnie's dress is a little more blue toned than Kacey's, and I think it really makes her unique skin stand out. The color is perfect on her. I'm not so sure about the silhouette.
Olivia Coleman Brought Her Trophy As An Accessory
Oscar winner Olivia Coleman changed out of her green and black Oscar look into this satin white dress with some kind of weird attached scarf thing. I like this dress minus the scarf. It just looks like somebody is going to step on it and then there's going to be trouble.
I love this color though. This dress could easily look too old, but I think Olivia is making it work.
Shailene Woodley's Fringed Look
Oh Shailene, I'm not sure about this whole look. I don't think the shape of this dress is doing her any favours, and I really don't like the long fringe hairstyle. It looks like she's trying to hide behind her hair. Nothing about this is working.
I do love Shailene, though. I'm so excited to see her in the next season of Big Little Lies. I think she needs to find a better stylist, though.
Spike Lee Paid Tribute To Prince In This Suit
Spike Lee didn't change into a separate outfit for the Vanity Fair After Party. He already had on an excellent purple suit, and you know what they say: if it ain't broke don't fix it. Spike's purple suit wasn't broken, so there was no need for him to fix or change anything.
Spike looks like a regular Waluigi and I am here for it. He's also sporting some pretty cool brass knuckles.
Elton John And David Furnish Wore Whimsical Jackets
I'm glad to see that Elton John hasn't toned down his style in his old age. Can you believe that this man is nearly 72 years old? And he's still rocking the snakeskin. What a legend.
Elton's husband, David Furnish, is also using the Vanity Fair After Party as an excuse to show off a beautiful suit. I can't tell if his suit is dramatic or terrifying or both, all I know is that it's cool and I've never seen anything like it before.
Jennifer Lopez Always Makes Waves With Her Fashion Choices
J-Lo decided to take a few fashion risks at this year's Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. That metallic, holographic dress is amazing, and I even kind of like the weird fan detail on the front of it.
Jennifer Lopez is now dating former New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, and I think these two make a pretty handsome couple. Alex, she may be a bit out of your league, but I really hope this relationship works out.
Tiffany Haddish
Tiffany Haddish arrived at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in a wonderful feathered ball gown by designer Rami Kadi. The green, black, and white number surely made the comedian stand out, not that she'd need any help with that having a huge personality.
Haddish told reporters that night that she was particularly impressed by Lady Gaga's and Bradley Cooper's performance of "Shallow." They really had all of us convinced they were really into each other!
Kate Bosworth
Kate Bosworth wore a gorgeous canary yellow gown by designer Cong Tri. The intricate beading on the dress, as well as the long delicate train, really make Bosworth sparkle down the red carpet. She reportedly also wore Jimmy Choo sandals and carried a gold clutch.
I think this is a truly elegant look for the 36-year-old actress. It's only evidence that Bosworth can still hearken back to classic Hollywood glamour on a night fully dedicated to Tinsel Town.
Ellen Pompeo Was A Lady In Red
Ellen Pompeo looked as if she could own the entire Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital in this fabulous two-piece ensemble by Sally Lapointe. From the sparkly red top to the lovely silk trousers, Pompeo exudes huge #GirlBoss energy in this look.
Only a Primetime veteran like Pompeo could pull off the look with such grace and confidence, in my opinion. Pompeo was seen at the party with fellow Grey's Anatomy alum including Jesse Williams and Shonda Rhimes.
Priyanka Chopra And Nick Jonas
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are another pair of newlyweds who pulled up to the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. Priyanka stunned in a black ball gown with a plunging halter bodice designed by Elie Saab. From the tulle to the waist belt, no part of the dress was more impressive other than the fact that it had pockets!
Nick looked dapper in a navy blue silk suit. It was only fitting that these two lovebirds showed up arm-in-arm, since this was the exact party where they first met back in 2017!
Amanda Seyfried
Amanda Seyfried wore a stunning tulle gown by the late, great Alexander McQueen. This dress is soft and pretty, yet also evokes some Material Girl vibes with the intricate bead work that almost look like a harness.
This would be a dress I definitely wouldn't mind trying on myself! Seyfried let the dress speak for itself for the most part, but she did accessorize with some great dangling earrings. Her pink eyeshadow was an excellent touch.
Taraji P. Henson
Another actress who paid homage to Oscar himself was Taraji P. Henson. The What Men Want actress literally came to shine in this bronze metallic jumpsuit by Roland Mouret. She also wore a plunging neckline, which seems to be on trend these days.
Henson's barrier-breaking career has always seen her in lead roles as a woman of color. Her career is still on a steady rise though, so we can only hope that an Academy Award is in her near future.
Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner
The middle Jonas brother, Joe, showed up to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party with his finacée, Sophie Turner. I absolutely adore the way Jonas is standing off to the side and letting Turner shine in her own light!
The Game of Thrones actress also wore a golden gown with a plunging neckline that night. I especially love that her dress comes with a demure slit to show off her legs. Jonas looked suave in an all-white suit, with the exception of his black loafers.
Amy Adams
Amy Adams clearly came to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party with the intention of stunning everyone around her. It was a mission accomplished in this elegant blue Alexandre Vauthier dress with yet another plunging neckline. Adams's ended perfectly at her waist, which was accented by a chic jeweled buckle.
Adams earned her sixth Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Lynne Cheney in Vice. Unfortunately, she went home empty handed that night.
Naomi Campbell
Naomi Campbell wore this elegant embellished gown to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in true supermodel fashion. The figure-hugging dress was backless and had a high neckline, likely as an homage to The Favourite and Mary, Queen of Scots which were both period dramas nominated for Best Costume Design at the 91st Academy Awards.
As if the intricate colored beading weren't enough for this suggestive ensemble, Campbell accessorized with even more bling, including diamond rings that had emeralds and Tanzanite stones.
Kate Beckinsale
Kate Beckinsale showed off her legs in this glamorous black and gold chiffon dress. It looks like a gown, but it's actually a mini dress with a very dramatic train. The Widow actress clearly wanted to glam up the night!
This is definitely one way to make jaws drop. Beckinsale caught everyone's attention with this dress, but it's the subtle details – her soft waves swept to one side and understated heels – that really bring out the old Hollywood glam.
