The Iconic Bat-Signal Is Coming to a City Near You
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Batman and Warner Bros and DC have announced a special way to mark the celebration. This year on Batman Day, which falls on September 21st, the iconic Bat-Signal will be cast to the skies around the world.
"We are proud to send up the Bat-Signal on Batman Day because it is an important beacon of inspiration that makes us all believe that it's possible to take hardship and turn it into something good. Batman Day is a global celebration for all the fans," says Pam Lifford, president of Warner Bros.
The symbol will light up in 11 different cities around the world at 8 pm in their respective timezones. Fans in Melbourne, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, London, São Paulo, New York, Montreal, Mexico City, and Los Angeles will be able to see the signal shine.
"The Bat-Signal is easily one of the most recognizable images among all superhero iconography and this is going to be a remarkable sight as we transcend borders, languages, and cultures to bring us all together with this single experience," says Lifford.
For those who aren't located in one of the 11 cities getting the signal, DC has launched an interactive app. The Batman Bat-Tracker app, launched September 16th, allows fans to see where in the world the Bat-Signal is located. We don't think there is any better way to celebrate the legendary Dark Knight.
