Anyone with a name that isn't "John Smith" knows the struggle of having to correct others when they pronounce their name wrong. Eventually, we all get to the point where we stop correcting people and just accept that our names will never be properly pronounced.
Well, celebrities, they're just like us! Even though they're in the spotlight and build entire brands around their name, we've still been getting them wrong. We didn't even know it was possible to mispronounce Ariana Grande's name but we've all be doing it.
Chrissy Teigen
The supermodel-turned-sassy Twitter commentator decided to reveal to the world that her last name isn't pronounced TEE-ghen like we've all been doing for more than a decade. It's actually TIE-ghen.
Chrissy said she used to think it was TEE-ghen until she visited some of her Norwegian family members and they revealed that even she had been saying it wrong this whole time. Even Chrissy got played by her own last name.
Saoirse Ronan
James Corden famously told this Golden Globe award-winning actress that her name "is a mystery." Ronan admits there's a lot of vowels and that she's basically heard everything but the real pronunciation. Americans are prone to calling her SAY-oar-see but it's actually pronounced SUR-SHA.
The Irish actress is light-hearted about her name though and one time even wore a sign on The Ellen Degeneres Show that had her proper pronunciation written on it.
Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot burst onto the mainstream movie scene when she landed the role of Wonder Woman. While on the press tour she seemed to spend half the time correcting interviews that her name isn't pronounced Gah-dot but it's actually GUH-dote.
Gal's original name was Greenstein but her parents changed their last name to Gadot when they moved to Israel. When pronounced the right way, Gadot means "Riverbank" in Hebrew. We think the change is beautiful.
Zosia Mamet
The Mad Men and Girls actress says she's used to people mispronouncing her Jewish first name. Mamet says she's heard everything from ZOH-see-ah, ZOH-sigh-ugh, ZOO-sha, ZOO-sigh-uh...you get the point. Well, all of those are wrong and the real way to say Mamet's first name is ZA-sha.
Mamet told Metro Magazine that one way to remember the proper way to say it is that it "rhymes with Sasha, only slightly more 'o' sounding."
Jake Gyllenhaal
Fans of Jake and his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal are about to be shocked to find out their last name isn't pronounced anything like JILL-en-hall. Jake revealed in an interview with Conan O'Brien that his family is of Swedish origins and that technically, the proper pronunciation of his last name is Yee-len-hey-lo.
Good luck remembering or even saying that pronunciation next time you see Jake or Maggie starring in a film.
Ariana Grande
All of us thought we were pretty slick saying Ariana Grande's last name like the Starbucks drink size, right? Wrong. We were all so, so wrong. Ariana herself said that she grew up saying her last name as Gran-DEE.

This one looks easy, right? Wrong. Everyone calls this legendary character actor RALPH because, well, we can read and that's exactly how it's spelled. Well, he tricked us all because he is of Welsh descent and the Welsh version of Ralph is RAY-ff or RAFE.
Fiennes could have helped everyone out by changing the spelling of his name when he got his actor's card but no, he wanted to watch us all suffer. Maybe they're a little bit of Voldemort's evil spirit in him after all.

Even after sixty years in the limelight, people still struggle to say Barbra Streisand's last name correctly. Many people like to change the 'S' into a 'Z' in her last name, pronouncing it Stry-ZAND. In fact, the 'S' is supposed to stay and it's really pronounced Stry-SAND.

Noah Centineo
Some people may not have even heard of Noah Centineo yet, but he's the latest teen heartthrob after starring in the Netflix film To All The Boys I've Loved Before.
