The Spoiler Ban Is Lifted And The Marvel Cast Has Shared Their Best Behind-The-Scenes Photos
Avengers: Endgame hit theaters like The Hulk hitting a brick wall. The film has smashed box office records by bringing in $1.2 billion worldwide on its opening weekend. Seeing as Endgame is the final installment of the original movie franchise, the release has left both the fans and the cast members feeling a little emotional.
The cast kept a tight spoiler ban on for two weeks so that fans could go out to see the movie. Since they couldn't spoil anything, most of the cast chose instead to share some funny and heartwarming behind the scenes photos from their time in the Marvel Comic Universe. There are technically no spoilers ahead, just heartbreak.
A6 Assemble
Jeremy Renner made Marvel fans pretty stoked when he posted this photo more than a month before the premiere of Endgame. Renner posted the fun selfie with the caption "Dear Thanos, we're coming for you... sincerely A6!"
With a photo and caption like that, it's hard not to get stoked for the film. Considering the fact that this is supposed to be the last time the original six Avengers band together to save the world, this photo means even more.
You Have To Pass The Time On Set Somehow
In honor of endgame, here's Captain America and Black Widow playing on an old school Gameboy. If you ever wondered how the Avengers passed the time on set when they weren't allowed to have their phones, look no further.
Mark Ruffalo posted this candid picture from the set on his Instagram two weeks before the Endgame premiere. We might not get another Avengers movie, but maybe we can count on Avengers: The Video Game coming out sometime soon.
This Throwback Was A Little More Action Packed
Saldana knows that the people want more throwbacks than decade-old photos of her and Chris Evans. In support of Endgame's major box office weekend, the actress posted this photo of what appears to be her character Gamora and the character Nebula in action.
All Saldana added to the behind the scenes photo was #endgame #bts. She didn't specify whether the snap was from Endgame, but those who have seen Infinity War can safely assume it's not an Endgame spoiler.
Black Panther Meets Rocket Raccoon
It's the duo you never knew you needed. Long before the Endgame premiere, Chadwick Boseman blessed us all with this behind the scene snap of him as Black Panther hanging out with Rocket Raccoon. When he posted the photo, he made sure to let Chris Pratt know he needs to take his sidekick back.
Marvel plans to film Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 so we'll see Rocket again, but most MCU fans know we likely won't see T'Challa in it.
The Power Group You Didn't Know You Needed
Avengers: Infinity War brought together four unlikely heroes between Dr. Strange, Tony Stark, The Hulk, and Wong. The four might not seem like they should get along, but by the looks of this behind the scenes lunch snap, they are a regular riot when they get together.
RDJ posted the photo and was quick to joke how there is two matching beards, two Benedicts, and two Sherlock Holmes. It's basically all your fandoms coming together at once.
Hanging Up The Gauntlet
Thanos will go down in film history as one of the best villains of all time. It's hard to imagine anyone but Josh Brolin portraying the larger-than-life character. Brolin seemed to be committed to the character even after filming had finished up.
When the press tour began, Brolin posted this picture with a true Thanos-style caption that said, "When you all are done with all your interviews and your talk shows, I'll slip this perfectly fitting gauntlet back on and tell you a story about your future."
Nebula Does Not Look Entertained
For his next post celebrating Avengers: Endgame, Pratt decided to tone it down a notch. Instead of posting a very, very illegal video, he chose to stay on Marvel's good side with this much less incriminating photo. Instead, all we get is a behind the scenes selfie of Star-Lord and Nebula.
Lucky for us, Avengers: Endgame isn't the end of Chris Pratt's storyline. He'll be back to star in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which is tentatively set to release in 2020.
Chris Pratt Is Going To Be In Big Trouble For This Video
The Marvel sets are so secretive that usually no phones are even allowed on the premise, but Chris Pratt broke all the rules. In the Instagram post, Pratt simply said that it felt like a "once in a lifetime opportunity" to try and capture a group "that likely will never be in the same room again."
Star-Lord posted the video that panned over the Infinity Wars set and features basically every member of the MCU. In this still, you can see Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans going over lines and choreography.
Started From Iron Man 2 And Now We're Here
After a crazy opening weekend at the box office, Paltrow couldn't help but share her excitement for being part of such an incredible franchise. When she posted this behind the scenes photo, she couldn't believe her, Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, and Scarlett Johansson had been together since Iron Man 2.
These four truly started from the bottom (some people would surely like to forget about Iron Man 2) and slowly rose to the top.
We Can't Get Enough Of This Pair
Avengers fans collectively started crying when RDJ posted this photo on his Instagram before the release of Endgame. Fans recognized it as the actual photo that Tony Stark is looking at in the trailer when he talks about "living with his own failure."
RDJ knew exactly what he was doing when he posted the photo on his Instagram with the hashtag #healtheinternet and #sameasiteverwas. Nothing will ever heal us, Robert. Nothing can make up for the heartbreak.
Brie Larson Had No Cute Behind-The-Scenes Photos
Captain Marvel herself admitted that because she was the newest member of the Marvel team, she was most scared of accidentally spoiling something. That meant she didn't take out her phone at all and apparently had no cute or heartwarming behind the scenes photos.
To make up for it she posted some snaps from the press tour, but luckily for the fans who were reeling for a photo, she also found this photo of a box of pizza on her chair. Thanks, Brie.
The Gang's All Here
Much of the Endgame press tour seemed like a high school reunion that was lasting way too long. For the original Avengers crew of Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and The Hulk, it was like a full two weeks of shenanigans. Even Mark Ruffalo knew it when he posted this photo to Twitter with the caption "Got the band back together."
These four are basically the fathers of the Marvel Comic Universe and by the looks of it, they know it.
Tony And Pepper Forever
For more than a decade, Gwyneth Paltrow portrayed Pepper Potts. She was the level-headed, down to earth partner that Tony Stark needed and their relationship always left fans reeling. In February 2019, Paltrow confirmed that she was retiring from the role after Avengers: Endgame.
While Paltrow told Variety that she was retiring from any sequels or further films, she didn't leave out the possibility of a cameo. For now, we'll just bask in this behind the scenes photo of Marvel's king and queen.
Zoe Saldana And Chris Evans Go Way Back
Long before they played Gamora and Captain America, Zoe Saldana reminded us all that she co-starred with Chris Evans in The Losers. In the post, Saldana talked about how grateful the pair was and that "if anyone would've told us then about The Marvel Universe, we would've laughed and brushed it off."
Nearly every MCU actor has praised how much Marvel changed their lives. To see where Saldana and Evans started to where they are today, we're pretty grateful too.
Anthony Mackie Shared Premiere Night With His Stunt Double
Not enough credit in the MCU goes out to the stunt doubles. Every single actor on set had a double to do all the crazy jumping, diving, and dangerous flipping that they couldn't do themselves. Yes, the actors trained hard and did their own choreography, but we wouldn't have any of the MCU without the stunt doubles.
Anthony Mackie knew this and so he decided to bring his stunt double as his date to the Endgame world premiere.
Swooning And Crying All At The Same Time
It's actually pretty rare that we see Robert Downey Jr. without his signature tinted glasses. They definitely add a certain something to RDJ but we're liking the way they look on his co-star Chris Hemsworth. Who would have guessed that Thor could be even better looking than before?
The pair took this photo in Los Angeles on the first day of the Avengers: Endgame press tour and Hemsworth shared it on his Instagram with a touching tribute to the films.
Tell Us What Happened Next, Tom
Tom Holland is the youngest member of the MCU and he's definitely become a fan favorite. Peter Parker and Tony Stark have one of the funniest relationships and some people even ship them (they do look like they could kiss at any moment in this photo).
Holland loves to play it up but in this throwback post admitted that RDJ is as much as mentor off-screen as he is on-screen. Holland is also slated for a third Spider-Man movie, so we'll see him again at least.
We Can't Get Enough Of Vision-Dog
Paul Bettany is pretty low-key when it comes to social media (it's mostly just pictures of his cats) but he made sure to post some sort of throwback photo to celebrate Endgame. Bettany obviously knew that what the fans really wanted was to see a dog dressed up in Vision cosplay.
Bettany also revealed that he will be part of a new series called WandaVision alongside Elizabeth Olsen AKA the Scarlett Witch. Hopefully, that means we see more dogs cosplaying as Vision.
Things Aren't As Fun As It Seems
James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2, shared this top-secret behind the scenes photo of the cast between scenes. While we're used to seeing photos of everyone joking around and having fun on set, Gunn said that "this is what's going on most often between takes."
It truly is nice to see that our defenders of the universe are always staying alert and attentive in the face of any possible danger.
RDJ And His Wife Have Stayed Steady On The Red Carpet
RDJ created this side by side image of him and his wife Susan on their first Marvel red carpet versus their last. On the right, they look like innocent little babies who don't know how much a single character will change their lives. On the left, they look like even more of a power couple than Tony Stark and Pepper Potts.
Let's be honest, it's the Robert Downey Jr. universe and we're all just living in it.
