Taylor Swift monopolies the Hot 100 Top 10
In 2022, Taylor Swift made history and became the first artist to monopolize the entire Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
This feat was in the wake of the release of her new album Midnights on October 21, 2022, with the track "Anti-Hero" finding its place at the number one slot.

One thing people did not expect in 2022 was Jennifer Aniston getting very candid in an exclusive interview with Allure magazine. The actress discussed her past relationships, including her marriage to Brad Pitt, and the rumors surrounding their divorce.
The most interesting topic she discussed was her pregnancy struggles and her experience with IVF.
Rihanna's pregnancy reveal and birth
Rihanna had something new to reveal in January. And rather than a long-awaited new album, the award-winning singer announced she was expecting her first child.

Scam artist television captures audiences
In February, two different Netflix series about scam artists captivated audiences and became the talk for weeks afterward.
Inventing Anna was a fictionalized account of pretend New York socialite and heiress Anna Delvey, real name Anna Sorokin, and how she conned the upper echelons of New York society. The Tinder Swindler was a documentary about Israeli conman Simon Leviev and how he swindled women out of thousands of dollars.
Wordle
Wordle took the world by storm when it suddenly became the game to play at the beginning of the year. Reddit engineer Josh Wardle launched the online web game in October 2021 with only under a hundred users.
It wasn't until the end of January that the game had millions of players, becoming so popular that The New York Times purchased the game for a seven-figure deal.
Harry Styles allegedly spitting on Chris Pines
During the premiere of Don't Worry Darling at the Venice International Film Festival, Harry Styles was seen allegedly spitting on co-star Chris Pine.
In a viral video, Pine was already seated to watch the film, with Styles appearing to lean over Pine, who pauses to look at his leg in disbelief before laughing. Both stars knocked down the allegations, saying that nothing happened.
Britney Spears gets married
Following the end of her 12-year-long conservatorship, Britney Spears has regained complete control of her life. So what better way to celebrate her freedom than marrying the man she loves?
Spears and now husband Sam Asghari tied the knot in June, later moving to an $11.8 million mansion in Calabasas, California, which Spears purchased.
Euphoria drama with Cassie and Maddy
When the drama erupted on season 2 of the HBO series Euphoria, the fight between former friends Maddy and Cassie took social media by storm.

Set 200 years before Game of Thrones, viewers were brought into the world of House Targaryen and the steps it took for the noble house to eventually fall and lose the iron throne.

On the season 42 finale of Survivor, Maryanne Oketch became the second Canadian to win the show.
Oketch, a 24-year-old seminary student, won 1 million dollars after spending 23 days in the wilderness and using clever strategies to secure her win, including using a hidden immunity idol to her advantage.
Multiverse movies take over
Marvel has taken over the multiverse game, with multiple versions of their famous characters interacting with each other. While the concept isn't anything new, it has never been seen on such a large scale.
From the Spiderverse, The Marvel Cinematic Universe Multiverse, and The X-Men multiverse, the multiverse theme allows Marvel to cater to fans by including their favorite characters in the same world. And, of course, it helps them keep making movies.

The theme of this year's Met Gala was "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," Kim Kardashian chose to wear the same dress that Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang "happy birthday" to President John F. Kennedy in 1962.
The decision was criticized, with some saying she "ruined" the dress, while others praised her for choosing to honor a memorable moment in American entertainment and fashion history.

Socialite Kourtney Kardashian and drummer Travis Barker had a formal wedding ceremony in Italy on May 22.

Another film about the life and career of actress Marilyn Monroe was released on Netflix in September to much acclaim and critique. Ana de Armas took on the famous role, transforming into Monroe in looks and personality.
Much of the negative reviews spoke of the hyperfocus on Monroe's suffering, which some viewers felt took away from de Armas' performance.
Heidi Klum's iconic worm Halloween costume
Taking the cliche question "would you still love me if I was a worm?" to a literal level, model Heidi Klum transformed into a worm with her husband Tom Kaulitz as an injured fisherman who caught her on his hook.
The super realistic costume took 12 hours to put on, including makeup and prosthetics, and cost "a lot more than anyone would think," according to costume designer Mike Marino.

The former SNL comedian and his dating life made headlines this year on two occasions. Between October 2021 and August 2022, Davidson was in a relationship with Kim Kardashian following her separation and divorce from her ex-husband.
